This post is all about how to make your bed to make it look expensive

1. choose a good mattress
The best place to start if you want to upgrade your bed is your mattress. I know it’s a big purchase, but I like to think of it as investment to yourself. People on average spend 8 hours a night sleeping, so why not make it as comfortable as you can. The best way to find out what type of mattress is comfortable for you is to go and try them. I recommend a medium to firm, but it really is personal preference.
2. use a matress topper
If you can’t swap out you mattress or you want to add a little extra luxury to your bed I recommend using a mattress topper. There are lots of different types to choose from depending on what you prefer. A memory foam topper is a great option for someone with who suffers from a back pain or if you wanting one that will mould to your body shape. For people who want a mattress topper that’s a little softer you might want to choose one that is filled with feathers or down.
The one I have is this mattress topper, from the White Company, it was a little pricy but totally worth it. It’s so soft and has made my bed so comfortable.
3. Put a king size duvet on a double size bed
I wanted to make my bed as comfortable as possible as well as looking good. One of my best tips is to go for a larger size duvet than your bed size. You’ll love how luxurious it looks and feels.
4. invest in pillows
One thing that’s really important when it comes to making your bed look expensive is investing good pillows. It best to have 4 large pillows on your bed. A lot of luxury hotels use down feather pillows for extra comfort. But, if you are allergic to feathers, and down, there are some great options to choose from. A memory foam pillow will give your neck the support you need to get a comfortable night sleep.
Once you have chosen a pillow that is comfortable and gives you the right support. Finish it off by adding some pillowcases. For that expensive look, I recommend a silk pillowcase. It looks really good and is also so good for your hair.
5. Quality sheets are key
Using high quality sheets can really make a difference when it comes to making your bed look and feel expensive. Look for sheets with a higher thread count, they are breathable and comfortable. I guarantee you won’t regret it, especially on hot summer nights.
When you think of expensive and luxury bedding, the majority of hotels use white bed sheets. There’s something about how a crisp white bed sheet screams luxury. I know how hard it can be to keep them white, but regularly washing them will keep them looking like new.
6. Decorate with a throw and cushions
I don’t know what it is about decorative pillows and a throw, but I think they make a bed so much nicer. It’s easy to add a pop of colour or give your bedroom a cohesive look.
7. Making your bed
Instantly, by making your bed it elevates the whole look of your bedroom. I’m someone who loves to get into a bed that’s been made, One thing that drives me crazy is getting into an unmade bed. (I know how silly that is). But trust me once you get into the habit of making your bed, you’ll know what I mean. If your not sure how to make your bed to make it look and feel like your sleeping in a luxury hotel, I’m going to talk you through with these simple steps.
- Put you’re mattress topper on to your mattress and place the elastics over the corners.
- Add your fitted sheet over the top, make sure the mattress topper stays flat underneath. If you’re not using a fitted sheet, you can use a flat sheet and tuck the corners and sides in.
- Place a flat sheet over the top, with the top of the sheet aligned with the top of the mattress. To make sure it lays flat, pull it tight on each side.
- If you choose to put a blanket on your bed, lay it flat on the top of the sheet and pull it tight on all sides.
- Place the duvet on top, making sure it is even on both sides. Allow enough room at the top to place your pillows.
- Fold down you blanket and sheet so that it folds over the top of your duvet. Then neatly tuck everything in together on both sides. For the corners, pull the sheet and blankets out at the corners and make a triangle. Then with one hand smooth them to one side and tuck them under the mattress.
- Put your pillows on your bed and then add any decorative pillows.
- Lastly, add your throw to the end of you bed. Pull it straight and make sure it is even.
