paint

One of the first things that I think about when giving any room a refresh is painting it. This gives the room an instant upgrade and is one of the most affordable ways to make it look expensive. When your deciding on which paint colour to choose, first you should decide on a colour scheme,

A great way to decide is to use a colour wheel, this way you are able to see what colours go together and which don’t. I recommend thinking about how the colours you choose will look with your flooring and lighting.

If your looking to make your bathroom look and feel bigger, I recommend choosing lighter tones such as whites and light greys. If your looking to make a statement, don’t be scarred of using dark colours such as greys or navy’s. These can make a statement especially if your bathroom suite is white.

panelling

remodelling bathroom hacks

When designing your bathroom it’s important to think about how you can add details that add a custom feel. By adding panelling to your bathroom it instantly creates an elegant chic feel. There are a few ways to add panelling but the easiest and cheepiest is using the peel and stick panelling. It’s super easy to use and if you want to remove it at anytime it won’t leave any damage to your wall.

Decide on how you want to incorporate panelling into your decorating. I really do like it when combined with wall paper to create a dramatic affect. Hang a bold print wallpaper on the top half of the wall with panelling on the bottom, Another great way to incorporate panelling into your design is the traditional tongue and groove panelling. I think this always looks effortlessly elegant.

hang a mirror

If there’s one thing you can do to make your bathroom look bigger, it’s adding a mirror. A mirror reflects the light and gives the illusion of more space. Not only that it also creates a focal point by drawing your eye to it. I’m obsessed with mirrors that have led lighting as they help to illuminate your space and elevate the overall appearance of your bathroom.

install new light fittings

I have learnt that lighting can make or break the way your room looks. Adding new light fittings can make a huge difference to the overall ambience of your space. I love installing a down light to create a sleek and elegant finish. Alternatively you could go all out and hang a stunning chandelier to elevate you space.

peel and stick flooring

If you’re working within a budget I cannot recommend stick and peel flooring tiles enough. There are so many different styles to choose from and they are really easy to lay. They can transform your bathroom without having to rip up your existing bathroom flooring. You simply have to peel the backing off and stick them down, If at a later date you want to swap them out they are super easy to remove.

Replacing or adding a new vanity unit is a perfect way to add storage to keep everything tidy but also makes everything look more put together and cohesive. You’ll be able to put all your cleaning products and beauty products away without having them clutter the rest of your bathroom. You can find some really cute ones that won’t break the bank that look expensive.

swap out textiles

bathroom decorating ideas

One of my favourite ways to make my bathroom pop is to add new textiles such towels, bath mats or a new shower curtain. This looks really effective if you have a bathroom with neutral tones and then add a bright coloured towel set or shower curtain with a bold print.

Textiles add warmth and texture to any space to create ambience, because of this it can soften the whole appearance of your space. If your wanting to create a cosy vibe in your bathroom, you might consider laying a rug this will make a statement while giving a warm feel.

change hardware

If your bathroom cabinets or your hardware is looking tired, a simple and inexpensive way to make it look expensive and elegant is to swap out old hardware. Whether it’s changing your towel or toilet paper holders, there are so many options to change things up and these small changes make such a huge difference.

If you’re thinking of swapping out your hardware, having contrasting colours can really make a statement. Alternatively, to create a cohesive look you could opt for matching hardware. What’s really trendy at the moment is decorating with elegant accents such as doorknob, door handles and light pulls, I’ve seen this trend everywhere!
