In this post I share with you 10 things to see and do in Brighton

Brighton is one of my favourite cities in the Uk to visit. It is were I studied at university and I have family there. Whenever I visit there are always so many things to do, I have put together this list of places to visit. Over the years I have spent a lot of time in this vibrant city and I have made some lovely memories. It offers so much to do, I have put together this list of my top 10 favourites.

How to get to Brighton?

Brighton is located on the South Coast of England in the county of East Sussex. It is about 64 miles from London. You can travel from London to Brighton by train, which takes just under an hour on the fast train, which you can take from Victoria station.

The Royal Pavilion

Brighton is a city with lots of royal history. In 1787 the Royal Pavilion was built for George IV as his pleasure palace. He was advised to spend time by the sea as he had fallen into bad health. You can tour the interior of the palace, which is well worth a visit. You can purchase tickets when you arrive or book in advance. When visiting you are able to walk around the Regency Gardens which are beautiful. I recommend taking some time to explore the gardens.

Palace Pier

10 things to do and see in Brighton

Along the famous promenade you will find the Palace Pier. It was built in 1889. Here you can enjoy the amusement park which is fun for all ages with its rides and attractions, including an arcade machines and even a roller coater. There is also plenty of places to get a drink and something to eat. There is a tea room, some restaurants and a few bars. I love to walk along the pier and eat fish and chips.

The i360

If you’re looking for a unique view of the city, The I360 is definitely worth a visit. It is on the seafront west of the Palace Pier. The pod is shaped like a doughnut and takes you up 162 metres, where you can experience breathing taking views of the city. You can book this experience though i360.

The Lanes

When I visit Brighton I really enjoy exploring the lanes. The Lanes are a group of streets that are full of boutiques, vintage shops, art galleries and cafes. A lot of the shop are locally owned and it’s a the perfect place to find your souvenirs. You will find so many unique items that you won’t find elsewhere. Its full of hustle and bustle, a great place to grab a coffee and watch the world go by.

The Upside Down House

The Upside Down House is a family owned attraction. The house is really quirky as it has been built upside down. When you go inside all of the furniture is also upside down. There are lots of sloping floors and it is such a unique place to visit. This attraction is a great place for photo opportunities. It situated next to the i360.

The Brighton Beach

No trip to Brighton would be complete without a trip to the beach. If you are visiting Brighton during the summer the beach is always busy. I love visiting the beach and taking in the atmosphere. There are deck chairs available for hire, but it you anyone can enjoy the beach for free. During the summer you will find many people enjoying a swim in the sea and there are places that are dedicated for this with lifeguards.

If you are going to visit the beach there are lots of places to eat and drink, you can enjoy some seafood along the front selling mussels and whelks. If your more in the mood for something sweet I love getting ice cream and there are lots of options for this.

The Brighton Sealife Centre

I have visited the Brighton Sealife Centre a couple of times during my trips to Brighton. It is situated opposite the Palace Pier. This is the oldest operating aquarium in the world. There are lots of sea life exhibits to see, including jellyfish and turtles. It’s really great for little ones. I have taken my daughter and my niece and they both loved it.

Brighton Marina

If you have enough time when visiting Brighton. A great place to visit is Brighton Marina. There are so many bars and restaurants to try. I find visiting the marina is good for walking round and taking in the atmosphere. If the weather isn’t great there is also a cinema and bowling alley. If you are planning to visit. You can take the Volk’s Electric Train to the Black Rock stop which will take you to the marina.

The Brighton Zip

The Brighton zip

The Brighton Zip is the longest zippier on the South coast. The Zip opened in 2017 and is found along the Brighton seafront. This attraction is family owned. If your looking for a thrill this is for you! The tower is 30 meters high and 300 metres long. I recommend you book before you go but they do allow for people who walk up on the day. For a single rider it costs £18 and for a dual rider its £32.

Volks Electric Railway

Volk’s Electric Railway is an iconic attraction in Brighton, it opened in 1883 and is now the oldest electric railway in the world! The Volk’s Electric Railway is 1 mile long and has 3 stations. There is a station outside the sealife centre called The Aquarium Station. Then there is the Halfway Station, named as it is halfway along the track and then the Black Rock Station. The journey takes around 12 minutes and takes you along the seafront. It’s really fun and a superb way to see the beach. Prices are start at £4.80 for an adult single trip, child single is £3.
